Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is a series of women-only events raising money for research into all types of cancer
Every two minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer – and there are over 200 different types of cancer to beat. With no Government funding for research, the money raised for Cancer Research UK is vital to help them carry out our life-saving work to help beat cancer sooner and reach their goal of seeing three in four people surviving cancer by 2034.
As world leaders in finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, Cancer Research UK rely on support through events such as Race for Life to help them continue their ground-breaking work.
Over the past 20 years, more than eight million women have taken part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, raising over £547 million to fund the charity’s work. And there are lots of ways to be part of Race for Life:
5k (or just over three miles) is an achievable distance for all ages and abilities. You can take part however you like and choose to run, jog or walk your way around the course.
10k (or just over six miles) may sound a little daunting but is an achievable challenge for anyone with a bit of training. If you’ve taken on one of the 5k events before, then this is a great distance to try and push yourself further.
Pretty Muddy events
Pretty Muddy® isn’t like any other fundraising event. It’s a muddy obstacle course that women of any ability can climb over, crawl under, and charge through to show cancer that hell hath no fury like a woman in pink!
Half or full Marathon
The Race for Life Half and full Marathon events are the perfect challenge for women who have always wanted to try a long-distance running event but have been worried about how to start and not having any support. It’s important to note that all events are not competitive so you can take part however you want – whether you run, jog or walk parts of the course.
Race for Life Hikes are a series of one-day, long-distance walking events, taking place at iconic locations up and down the country.
